my 15 week old baby has just finished a course of antibiotics for an ear infection, and now has oral thrush.she wouldnt take her bottles very well yesterday, and this morning she was just screaming every time i tried to feed her.

i took her to the emergency doctor this afternoon and hes given me some nystasin(sp?)for her.

im really worried ,though,as she's only had 11oz of milk since 1am (she ususally has about 30oz a day)and im scared shes going to get dehydrated.

is therea nything else i can do to help her?ive tried giving her cooled boiled water but she just screams with that as well.

You could perhaps try dropping in the made up milk with a syringe until her mouth eases. Poor little thing. Both of mine had oral thrush but for some reason, I don't remember it being too painful and stopping them being able to suck.

If you're still worried about fluid intake tomorrow, take her to GP on Monday.

thanks, ive been sort of squirting the milk into her mouth from the bottle, thats how i got the odd drop down her today.

my ds2 had it bad like that when he was a month old,he wouldnt feed either.

the doc said it should have started to ease off by the morning as the stuff works pretty quickly.i just hope she wakes up and has a feed soon.
