Vicki's and breastfeeding

Thought I'd be OK with this one but checked the label this morning after using it last night and it says to check with a doctor before using if breastfeeding. Has anyone checked? I've got no ongoing medical conditions, neither has baby (touch wood). Baby vicks isn't doing anything!

Its because adult vicks is too strong for babies and there was a casebof someone using adult vicks on a baby who then coughed up so much mucous they couldn’t clear it and the baby choked to death.

I think the worry is that you put it on your chest and then breastfeed and it’s too strong for the baby. I wouldn’t use it if it’s a young baby. I probably would now but my breastfed baby is 2.

Thanks. I'll avoid it then. Baby is five months.

Vicks on the feet?

What pp said, it's dangerous for under 2s

You can get alternatives that are suitable for babies though.

I've got the baby one but it's not her I want it for. I wanted to use it on myself. I can't f find any cold remedies that breastfeeding mums can use. It's the thing I find most irritating about breastfeeding.

It would probably be safe to put it on your back. I'm not a doctor though.
