Any advice on using a dummy with an ebf newborn?

I have a 2 year old as well so u can't always feed her to settle her. Would I regret using a dummy to settle her? Will it affect her feeding?

I don’t think it’s advised until at least 3 weeks. Have a read of this on Kellymom Smile

If you’re struggling with a newborn and toddler, there’s some tips here.

Congratulations on your new LO too Thanks

Breast both of mine and they both had a dummy. We had no match issues.

My 8 week old is ebf and has a dummy. We've had no isssues. She loves gettjng her doddie after feeds when i put her back in her crib or if shes upset.

Nothing wrong with dummy.

I think if you can give it a few weeks until bf is established its best, well that's what I was told. If you leave it too long they wont take one.

Both my children were EBF. DC2 loved the dummy and used it from about 2-4 months until it started affected sleep when falling out of the mouth. DC1 never really liked it. Never had an issue with BF.

I EBf both my kids for six months and used a dummy with both. No problems. Babies need to suck. Better for them to suck on a dummy than your boobs when they are not hungry.

Thanks everyone, I think my first used me as a dummy and I really dont want that this time! Plus it's not practical to have her attached to me when chasing a toddler around.

It's so hard to find advice on it as all the breast feeding sites say to wait but I know she is feeding well even though she's only a few days old.

My first we introduced at 7/8 weeks but because we didn't want one. The second was after about a week.
