5 month old EBF and bottle refusal

Hi,

LO is 5 months and EBF. We're also in sleep regression hell. I'm desperate to get her to take a bottle so DH can help me out one night.

So far I've tried tommee tippee bottles, mam bottles and a minbie. She's refused them all. I've tried them with expressed milk and two types of formula and I've even had the bottle teat in my bra for hours to see if my smell helps. DH has also tried. She's clearly not a fan of the bottle.

Has anyone used a sippy cup in this situation and if so which one? I don't want to stop bf but I really need to find a way to get some sleep. Feeling like this isn't good for anyone.

Thanks

You have my sympathy as both of mine were total bottle refusers. If you do a search on MN, there’s lots of old threads on bottle refusal which might help.

And yes, I did go put sometimes and leave DH with a sippy cup and sone ebm.

I’d say at 5 months I wouldn’t bother with the bottle if I’m honest. There’s some info here on cup feeding Smile

If you’re struggling at night, have you got her in bed with you? Have you tried the No Cry Sleep Solution?

I have a bottle refuser too.

We used the doidy cup which was good, and also the basic free flow Tommy Tippee sippy cups with the flip down teat- no valve. Tried her with the valve one, couldn’t get the hang of it but loved chewing the teat.

However- she would absolutely not take any night feeds via cups. We sometimes topped up at bedtime but overnight she absolutely refused anything but the boob.

Probably not much help but may be worth a try.
