HELP - Weaninfg from Breast to Formula

After 2 months of perservering through painful breasttfeeding and sore nipples we have made the decision to wean from breast to formula - which daughter does not like at all, I have tried 2 brands both of which have left her violently sick with a poorly bottom. Both times I have tried replacing an expressed feed with formula. Does anyone have any ideas / advice on how to sucessfully wean her across? Ta

Hi, i think it can take a few feeds for a baby to be able to digest formula as well as breast.
This was a comment made to me when i told someone my dd2 had been very sicky since having 2xformula bottles a day when i first returned to work. I work 3 days a week, so the first week it was very obvious that it was the formula making her sick, as when i was at home and fully breastfeeding her she wasn't sick at all.
I kept with the same formula (aptamil) and over the weeks she has settled down and now not sick at all.

I don't think you need to worry about weaning her gently onto the formula - moreso for your breasts to wean down to prevent you getting mastitis.

The other thing to consider is some children may be intolerant to certain milks, but i wouldn't jump to this conclusion until shes fully on the formula for a week or so.

Good luck!
