Breastfeeding and is this normal?

After I’ve breastfed my 7 day old baby, milk seems to come out of his nose and mouth, not always. Usually when we feed laying down which is more often than not as it’s a position we both prefer currently.
He also gets hiccups afterwards too.

Anything to be concerned about?

Not really, not if it's not bothering him. They often dribble milk out especially if you have quite a strong letdown. Hiccups are very common in tiny babies. Sucking (breast or dummy) often settles them.

If milk is regularly coming out of his mouth , and especially when laying down, I'd be getting him checked for a sub mucous cleft palate

Sorry I meant Nose not mouth.

Milk out of the mouth is normal. Lots of milk from the nose can indicate a palate problem
