Combined feeding - us it worth it?

Hi all. I posted on here a while ago as I have been struggling with deciding how to feed my baby. I really, really struggled breastfeeding. The latch didn’t work and despite help to cut a long short I was getting very depressed and gave up feeding from the breast by about week 4. My baby is now 13 weeks and since I’ve been pumping and giving him formula by the bottle. Giving up breastfeeding was the right decision for me and my combi feeding has been working well. For the first 6 weeks or so he was getting 40/50% breast milk. However, as he requires more milk and more of my attention my ability to supply and pump is decreased. I simply can’t keep up the demand. Now I’m down to about 1 or 2?bottles of expressed milk a day. I’m wondering if it is worth it? Is there any advantage of giving just a small amount or should I just make our lives easier and quit? Part of me wants to and part of me says that some breast milk must be better than none (for both of us). There’s no information out there on mixed feeding so I’ve nowhere to get advice. I don’t mind pumping so much but I’m not able to quit the night feed for instance (which is one of the few advantages of formula) as I need to pump milk at this time.

Any help appreciated

Bumping for you! You're doing great. Personally I'd keep going as long as you can, baby will be getting the goodness from the breastmilk even though your supply has diminished. I think 1 or 2 bottles is an impressive amount to pump!

According to this on Kellymom there can be immunological and nutritional benefits from as little as 50 ml of breast milk a day.

Definitely worth it for the heath benefits and if you needed to boost your supply you could have that option. Breast milk in even small quantities has many benefits. Every breastfeed counts.

Thanks all. I’m still going. Think I’ll keep it up at least until he sleeps through x
