I've posted before when DS was younger but now he is 12 months old I am getting really worried about him not drinking. He only sips water very occasionally through the day so probably 50ml total max in 24hours. Otherwise he bfeeds at breakfast and bedtime.

He refuses any type of bottle and I have tried EVERYTHING. He will sip what little he has from a baby cup.

His fontanelle is slightly sunken all the time but he seems well in himself. Do you think I should get external advice now that he has dropped the day feeds?

Hi I'm having the exact issue with my 13 month old. He's breastfed for naps and bedtime but it's not loads. He won't drink a good amount from a cup. Only sips and throws the cup/bottle out of the highchair/pram/cot etc. Did the sistema cup work in the end or was it a fluke? I'm guessing they are able to drink ok now as this was years ago...what age were they when you had a breakthrough with it?

So how often does he BF? Two, three times a day? I'd not expect a 13 month old who is BF 3 times a day to drink a lot else to be honest.

Yeah about 3 times but whenever I've expressed it has only been about 50- 100mls max which doesn't seem like enough compared with what other babies are having. I've been giving lots of weetabix and fruit and soups etd to try and get some extra fluids in as he will eat fine so that's something I guess

How much you express isn't a reflection on how much he's taking. He'll be an expert Vader by now and will take so much more Wink
