Feeding in minutes

Hi,

My 10 week old EBF DD has gone from spending 30mins per feed to actively wanting to be off the boob after 5minutes or so. (Was not a gradual progression - this just changed a few days ago) She's not feeding any more regularly and still producing lots of wet and dirty nappies.

Has anyone else's dc done something similar at this age?

Yes, they just get more efficient at taking the milk, plus baby will be more wakeful now so won't be falling asleep while feeding as much. Both my bf babies have ended up very fast feeders, it's great!

My dd did this, by 10 weeks she would never feed for more than 5 minutes or so. She still fed fairly regularly but never for long!

That sounds fine. Mine only fed about 5-10 minutes per feed pretty much from birth. He was a big baby and carried on growing well and was content so obviously that’s what he needed. I suspect your supply is established now and she’s getting what she needs pretty efficiently.

MY second fed for about 5 minutes. Enjoy it, my first Fed for hours!

Yep my 12 week old only feeds for 5 mins at a time, often with 2-3 hours between feeds. My health visitor is happy with her weight gain and I have tried getting her to feed for longer but she just doesn't want to.
