Formula feeding - is it too much?

Hi! At the moment my 8 week DS is having roughly 34 oz of formula a day with between 30-60mins of breastfeeding as well.

I’m concerned he’s having too much to eat as the guidelines says for exclusively FF it’s 2.5 oz per pound of weight - this would mean 30oz for him

It suggests that they should have roughly 5 feeds a day based on that amount however I’m demand feeding (as per MW advice) so he typically wants 5-6oz every 3 hours - which I give to him

I’m worried I’m causing him problems long term as you hear that it’s easier to overfeed a FF baby and cause issues with obesity later in life?

Is it too much?

It is easier to overfeed a bottle fed baby, but you don't seem to be way over the guidelines...it may be your baby really needs this 'extra' at the moment. Probably best to speak to your HV before you do anything that means restricting his intake. Three hourly feeds are absolutely normal for a young baby, btw.

Don't worry, it'll even out next week / month and then you'll worry he's not having enough! It'll just be a growth spurt.

My two both used to vomit if they'd had too much!
