Tongue tie baby

My son has a tight tongue tie, and the health visitors said it's fine because it seems to be loosening but every feed he has a major coughing fit for drinking too fast, and throws up a little after most feeds, not sure if it's common in tongue tied babies just need some advice?? He's 4 weeks old so has the teat 1 for his bottles.

Hi there! My son is 3 weeks old and exactly the same. When his tongue function was measured he got a score of 2 out of 14. The health visitor referred him to have it cut at an ENT clinic.

We were originally bottle feeding and the health visitor recommended paced feeding because babies with tongue tie can't control how fast milk comes out so sputter and cough as the milk is coming in too fast for them to handle.

Since moving to nipple shields for breast feeding, I have noticed his tongue seems to be able to move more. So maybe it will stretch out a little bit? I'd definitely look into paced feeding though because it did stop a lot of DS coughing and spluttering.

Just reread your post and noticed your HV said it's already loosening, that's great. Just ignore my last paragraph then. My apologies!

Ohh right I think I'll look into paced feeding thank you! His is loosening but he is still struggling so def worth looking it up and having a go at it! X
