This site is so useful for breastfeeding and common drug interactions. It's written by a pharmacist.

I was fairly certain you can't, as I'm allergic to animals and don't take them at the moment while bf after chemist said best to avoid,

however this site seems to think they might be ok, can you check with your gp?

here

Yes you can take most sorts of antihistimines - I take zirtek everyday and I'm BFing, I had to take them in pregnancy as well after chatting to a consultant. The only time its dangerous to take antihistimines is the first 12 weeks of pregnancy, then you can but only 2 types of old style ones. Ask a good pharmacist.

you can take lots of different types, some are safer than others. i take benadryl cos clarityn (the one that's commonly given while breastfeeding) doesn't work for me. i did have to argue my case with several diff doctors tho as they aren't keen to prescribe them. if you google 'dr hale lactation' you should be able to find dr hales site which lists all drugs and whether they are safe to take while breastfeeding. he is like the world expert on it

plus if dc is under 1 they are free on prescription
