Gaviscon/dentinox

Hi all, my 8 week old has been given infant gaviscon by the gp for reflux, however we've been told to only give 4 doses a day (half sachets) so have been using dentinox drops once hes had his gaviscon for the day. Is this okay to do or will it make things worse? Thanks.

Not sure on this one sorry OP. Does the Gaviscon seem to be helping at all?

Winterfellismyhome · 07/09/2018 22:28

Not really. Only been using it since Wednesday evening though. The dr said try it for a few days then try reflux milk

I think if it were me, I’d try the reflux milk sooner rather than later. Gaviscon is a bit rubbish in our experience. With our DS it was undiagnosed Tongue Tie causing the problems.

Oh thank you for that link. He does have slight tounge tie but the midwife didnt seem bothered about it. I didn't know it could cause reflux. He often leaks milk when hes feeding too

I’d get it checked again if I were you Winter. We had awful problems with sleep and Weaning and DS ended up in Speevh Therapy. The details of the Tongue Tie Practioners are here.

DS basically screamed for months. It’s realky hard to tel, if it’s reflux, allergy or tt as all of the symptoms are so similar but if your DS has reflux symptoms and you know he has tt, I’d get that checked out first Smile

Just an update. The gaviscon didn't work at all so we moved onto reflux milk and its made the world of difference. The health visitor said ds is too old for a referral from them so i have to go via gp but its a 2-3 mo th wait. Thanks for your advice @julie
