Moving from neocate to soya milk bottles

Hello, My DS is one in two weeks and he has been on neocate since 5 Weeks old due to him having a CMPA. From around 6 months I have used Soya milk in things like porridge, sauces etc and he has had no reaction so I’m confident to say he is not allergic to Soy. I have not started the milk ladder yet so he has had no diary since he was 5 Weeks old. Anyway, I have two questions:

  1. Do I need to wean him off neocate onto soya milk bottles gradually or just go straight into it?
  2. He is one in two weeks and I am on my last tin of neocate which will last me another few days. I can get more no problem but would i be ok to switch to soya milk now bearing in mind he’s not one for 2 weeks? Or should I just wait until he’s one.

Thanks for any help and advice in advance!

If he's happy to take it you can just do a straight switch. I'd be inclined to get another run of formula and do the milk ladder so there aren't too many big changes all at once. Or, of course, do the switch and hold off on starting the milk ladder for a few weeks.

I have a feeling dairy free formula is recommended until two? My 19 months old still has a cup of formula morning and night

DD was lactose free and at 11 1/2 months we swapped straight to dairy free.

Alpro growing up milk or oatly barista are the closest to whole cows milk in terms of fat/calories.

At 1 she only had milk in cup and bottles as needed durring the night but appart from night time wake up she did not have much milk anyway.

You will nolonger need to sterilise bottles. Yeah!

In total they need 350mg of calcium a day which can be from any source. DD lived on yoghurts.

You probably already know most of this so sorry is I am stating the obvious.

My DS has allergies, but I was breastfeeding. I wanted to change at 6 months and tried to switch to neocate but he was having none of it!! I went on with breastfeeding and then at 10 months stopped breast feeding and switched over to soya milk (this was after consulting the dietitian at the hospital). My DD who had no allergies, I switched to cows milk at one with no other milks. So I would say go for it!

Thanks everyone, I ended up calling the dietician we’re under and they said to go for it now but don’t put him onto soya milk the same time as doing the milk ladder. So the plan is to get him accustomed to soya milk for the next few weeks then start re introducing milk then! It could be coincidence but he’s not settled well tonight and I don’t know if it’s because he’s hungry and the soya milk isn’t as filling?

Hello, I’m almost in exactly the same situation as you, only me girl is 9 months.
Can I please ask, did you just give a whole bottle of Soya, or did you swap one ounce out at a time (so if he usually takes 8 ounces Neocate, did you do 7 ounces Neocate and 1 ounce Soya, and then 6 ounces Neocate and 2 Soya and so on?) thank you.

Hi new name I just went straight in with 8ozs of soya I didn’t blend the two x
