9 week old fussy feeding

My nine week old has been very fussy during feeds for over a week now. Sometimes it seems like she's drowning on the milk. Other times it's like it's not coming out fast enough. She kicks her legs, coughs, splutters. I've tried changing bottles, changing teats, giving Infacol - nothing is working. It means she's taking much less milk and her mood and sleep are both affected.

Posted too soon!

She's on Hipp formula and up until last week had no problems whatsoever. She did have the rotavirus vaccination last week - could it be that? I just want my happy baby back.

She could be developing a milk intolerance. It takes a while to build but it causes stomach pain when they eat, so fussy eating is a sign

Alternatively, are you sure you have all the same speed nipple. Im wondering if you have a mix of fast and slow flow

All teats are the same. I tried her on a different one for a day.

My breastfed 9 week old DC2 has been doing the same (although in my case refusing the breast and having a screaming fit). I vaguely remember something similar with DC1 around this age too so certainly for mine I think it's a development/phase thing possibly related to becoming a bit more alert and making the transition to wanting fewer but bigger feeds.

Have you noticed any difference in her nappies? If it is an intolerance it's likely to show up there at some point.

Nappies seem fine, pretty normal.

My DS is 4 months old and just had his second set of rotovirus 2 weeks ago- he had been extremely upset and fussy with his bottle and in the end I changed his formula to the ALDI one (was on the "reformulated" aptamil one before) he's like a different baby now! He takes his bottle calm and relaxed and is more happy in himself

It may be a coincidence - but this pesky immunisations really can knock them for 6- I found these last ones the worst!

Hang in there he will get better- if he was ok on his HIPP before then I wouldn't bother changing xx
