My baby is now 4 months old, she was 10lbs 5.5 at birth and was 3 days late so she wasnt a small baby anyway, in the first 3 weeks she went from the start 3oz to 5oz, by time she was 2 months was at 8oz and by 10weeks was 9oz.
She been sleeping through the night since 5WeekOld, but during the day having 9oz bottle every 2 hours, last month she weight in at a a stone! Recently she has been wanting a bottle within 60-90 minuets of her last one, i play with her, rock her, she started teething so she been having bonjela(calgel) and calpol for her gums, anf nothing works untill she gets a bottle, but dont want to overfeed her,but if shes hungry she hungry, im a single mum of 22 andthis is my first(andlast) so its all very nerve racking and new for me.

As you say, if she’s hungry, she’s hungry. Just feed her and when she spits the bottle out she’s full. If she completely drains the bottle, she probably needs a tiny bit more.

Are they maintaining their curve? Or moving up centiles? Do you use paced bottle feeding?

14lbs (a stone) is bang on for a 4 month old! Don’t worry at all!

Livinglavidal0ca · 20/08/2018 16:24

Oh just saw that was last month, means she’s grown just over a lb a month since birth, so 15ish lbs now. Sounds absolutely fine for a baby born at 10lbs!

Mine was EBF and put on 1lb a week for the first 6 weeks of her life! She was 14lbs at her 6 week check.
She did even out Grin

My 2nd son was 10lb 13 at birth (he's a grown man of 34 now!)and he weighed a stone at about 8 weeks old!

I found that a bottle was nowhere near enough to satisfy his hunger. I started giving him pureed fruit then vegetables, at 4 WEEKS old. My doctor said it was fine (unlike the health visitors), so I continued with that. He used to have:
a bottle and a rusk in the morning,
bottle and pureed fruit later,
bottle and vegetables at teatime,
bottle at night.

If he needed more milk or more food, I'd give it to him. Yes, he was chubby until he started school - but definitely not obese or anything.

He's tall and slim now by the way
