DD is 11 days old suffering with wind a bit, started using infacol which is only mildly helping she will squirm & raise her legs during feeds or after a feed so it's all classic signs of wind. However the main reason for this post is we can only ever get 1 ounce in her (occasionally 2) then she falls asleep, tried stripping her off, changing her nappy to wake her but nothing seems to work. On the odd occasion she does stay awake I try giving more she either isn't interested or she tries to take more but it's like the pain in her tummy is stopping her. Even when she has just the 1 ounce she can then go a few hours without wanting any milk despite me trying to wake her a good few times!
Anyone got any advice? When spoke to the midwife yesterday she recommended we changed the teat size & this still hasnt made a difference. I'm getting slightly concerned now as I feel she should be having more. Help please!

If she’s windy and starting a feed then stopping because of pain in her tummy, has anyone talked to you about the possibility of CMPA?

How heavy was she when born and when she was last weighed?

Remember they are born with walnut sized tummies they don't hold much!

From NHS website rough guideline is 150-200ml per day per kilo of weight!

Perfectly normal. Babies feed little and often at this age. Two of mine were FF, and even at 6 months wouldn't take more than 4 or 5 ounces at a time. Really don't worry Smile As for the wind, I really rate the NUK bottles, worked a treat for my two.

Having a new baby can be all consuming can't it? If she is otherwise alert and and gaining weight then I would try to relax about how many ounces she's getting and when. As a PP said their tummies are tiny right now.

Try to embrace the fact that feeding around the clock is what this part of their life is about. Adopt good nighttime and daytime feeding practices and make sure you rest/eat/shower whenever you can.

She was 8lb when she was born she is now 8lb 3oz as of today. Shes 2 weeks old tomorrow.
She's very alert & gets lots of wet nappies has been constipated a few times but after cycling the legs & massaging the tummy she goes within a few hours.

DD1 had mild cmpa was finally diagnosed at around 6 months of age she was then put on to a prescribed formula.

It’s really good that she’s putting on weight and is pooing with cycling. Once she’s 2 weeks she should be having roughly 2.5 floz of formula per pound in weight in 24 hours, so that’s around 20floz, would you say she’s getting around that?

It’s also great that she’s brightcand alert at times and that you’re aware of CMPA in case that’s a possibility Smile
