Short periods after weaning from extended breastfeeding

I’ve just stopped breastfeeding my 25 month old last month (when she turned two). I had my period back at 3 months post partum and it was its regular 27/28 days throughout breastfeeding. I did have extremely heavy periods with lots and lots of big clots though. I seem to suffer loads with bf as it also causes me to put on loads of weight on my tummy and thighs. I’m 2/3 stone overweight to where I was pre pregnancies now.
I became anemic too and had to go on iron tablets and vitamin d for a while.
Now we’ve stopped my periods seem a bit lighter but they are really really short and my pmt was shocking this month (I had a full on argument with someone in the street about something v trivial!). I’m covered in spots and I’m knackered again!
What is going on with my body?! What hormones are up/down?
How can I help balance them?
All suggestions welcome especially from people who have fed for a long time. We were only feeding once a day for the last 6 months so stopping couldn’t have been more gradual!
Thanks

25months! Well done! How are things now? Dropping that last feed can send your hormones wild and some people are particularly sensitive to that. Often it can take a few months to settle whilst feeling like you are going slightly mad Confused

@Redteapot67 agree that stopping can send you a bit haywire for a while. One thing that’s helped my skin and PMS is having the Mirena fitted. Sunlight helps my skin too (I have hormonal Roseacea) so I try to go out for a walk each day and washing my face in this soap has pretty much cleared my skin up! Smile

Reading this with horror, reached the 26 month mark and thinking should probably wean but reading this makes me think i’ll just keep going until the teenage years Grin

[grin) at Sweet. Not everyone gets it that bad. I had a bit of a wobble emotionally for a couple of weeks but I had been pg or Bfing for bloody years so it’s understandable. After the 2 weeks, everything was pretty normal, well normal for me as I’ve always had PMS and heavy periods.

Hopefully the only thing i’ll notice is that my baby weight miraculously falls off.......
it really is so much easier to keep feeding than stop.
