HELP constipated baby

Hi,

This is my first time posting and I’m pretty desperate for advise.

My daughter is 10 weeks old, was on aptimal profurta and at 6 week check up doctor advised she was constipated due to not going for a poo for 5 days at a time and screaming in pain when she went to the point of wheezing and losing her breath while straining. The HV said this was normal (I knew in my heart it wasn’t was was pleased when the doctor said) the doctor advised me to use comfort milk - so changed 3/4 weeks ago to aptimal comfort. The baby is pooing every 2/3 days but is crying still (not as horrific as before but still in some pain) while pooing. The poo is dark green with a thick consistency! I’m now not sure if I should try a different brand of comfort milk or if she could be have a intolerance to the formula.

Any advise or suggestions would be appreciated breaks my heart to see her in pain thanks for reading x

www.nice.org.uk/guidance/cg99/chapter/1-Guidance#diet-and-lifestyle

The Nice guideline does not even mention sugar supplements at all, just an adequate intake of fluids, a good diet and standard laxatives such as lactulose which I already mentioned, is a synthetic sugar, much the same as you’d find in minty sweets. Enema such as Sendyouupinflames has mentioned is included as an option providing the child is seen to be healthy.

So as per my first post, water.

@2manysweets

YES

Gave cooled boiled water - didn’t add anything in it gave her 1oz

And last night we had a poo no tears!! I nearly cried haha!

Went to the doctors this morning said the colour and smell isn’t a issue it’s due her going every 2/3 days and prescribed Lactose.

Going to keep her on the water for the next week and then I might try and Change to Hipp as I’m sure aptimal is a issue but the doctor doesn’t think that’s what is causing it.

Thank you for your advise and keep them fingers crossed for me haha xx
