So my baby was prem.
in hospital for a few months.
I've felt REALLY down I didn't manage to breast feed I couldn't keep up with the pump I had a lot of complications and problems. I dried up after a week weeks but I've heard bringing baby to breast could encourage a supply even though I've been dried up a few months. Is it possible? Or am I being fed rubbish I'm not comfortable bringing baby to boob If nothing could happen

Hi Op,
I struggled also for various reasons and my milk dried up pretty quickly as well. I didn't know about relactation until my baby was 4 months and I think I read somewhere the younger the baby the easier it is, it helps if your little one is still rooting and it does take time to reestablish your supply.

I think you'll need a good breast pump and I talk to a professional lactation consultant before you embark. I really considered it as well as was completely gutted for months about not breastfeeding, however my little one fed constantly on bottles throughout the day taking at least an hour per feed and realistically trying to start the process again at 4 months was impractical. We were just about to start swimming and our baby groups and get out of the house. Just from research and whether it's true, it can can several weeks to get a half decent supply, you mind find that you can do some breastfeeding and the rest formula? The other option I found out about is donor milk (human breastmilk for human babies) the page is on Facebook, if you can find a mummy that donates to hospitals then that's a great option, but read the pros and cons as it's mostly done in good faith sharing breastmilk... good luck XX
