Hi, first baby due next week. Can you please advise which is a good (electric) breast pump? Don't want to spend a fortune but want something that isn't too uncomfortable and will help me express. Thanks xx

My first advice would be to wait. You won’t, hopefully, need one straightaway and if you do need one, the hospital will loan you one.

When baby arrives, give yourself a little time before you start pumping and get to your local BFing support groups, there might even be some Mums who are only too willing to sell theirs on.

If you are buying one, either new or second hand, I’d look for one with a closed system. I loved my amends lactaline. Electric and can be used as a single or double so you van pump while feeding or after Smile

To start with I had a Tommee tippee manual which I got along ok with but preferred my nature bond thingy. As I wanted to introduce bottles of expressed (babe says absolutely not) and making a freezer stash for weaning I bought a lansinoh single electric and I love it. So handy being able to express straight into the new style bags and it’s as Jilted said a closed system. So easy to clean.

Either way just don’t put it in the dishwasher whilst half asleep on a spaghetti bolognese night 😬

I'd agree it's not something you need to buy in advance tbh. Also if you want to express, if it's only the odd bottle I'd reccomend a manual pump tbh, cheaper and convenient enough. I use the Medela hand pump.

Definitely leave until baby is here. I found I got blood blisters from thr manual one so bought a medela swing which is fantastic. John Lewis had the cheapest price when i bought mine.
