Confused about water for 6 month old

Hi can anyone offer any advice please?
DD is just under 6 months old bit not yet weaning and not likely to start for another week or two.
She's bottle fed breast milk and formula (about 20%/80%).
How much water should she be having? Is it just sips? I am worried about filling her up on water as she doesn't have a huge appetite.
She is having cooled boiled water, if she has a separate bottle for water does it need to be steriliser?

I didn't offer water until we started solid food at 6 months as that is what it said in the weaning guide we were given from the health visitor (he was ebf, I don't know if that makes any difference). Then I offered it at meal times, he was totally uninterested in it until he was nearly 9 months. I started him on tap water and have never sterilised as was told not needed at that age.

There's no need for additional water until weaning, when you can offer it in a cup alongside food.

The exception being if it's very hot, and then you could offer water from a bottle. Or you could just give more breastmilk. I wouldn't bother with boiling and cooling the water at nearly 6 months either.

As others have said, there’s no need to offer water before the introduction of solids to a baby unless they are ff and it’s very hot. Even than an ounce extra is fine, you may be able to add this to the feed if you check the carton. If baby is bf, there’s no need for water as the BM changes with the heat.

As your baby is combo fed, would giving more BM be an option? If not, I think a few sips of tap water will be fine. Unless there is a specific reason why your tap water wouldn’t be safe? After all, it’s advised to add boiling water to formula not because of the potential risk from the water but to kill any potentially lethal bacteria in the formula,

Thanks all that's helpful. I was offering water because it's so hot and she is mostly formula fed. I wasn't sure if the little BM she's getting would help hydrate her as it's such a small amount. I'll give her some of the freezer stash Jilted. I'm reducing the expressing and it seems to be drying up anyway - I may be dehydrated myself.
I wondered if the advice about having unboiled tap water only applies if they had started weaning as before 6 months nhs advises boiled tap water only. Or is that just a coincidence...

Nhs says boil water under 6 months for drinking but if your baby is nearly that age and is taking solids then I'm sure it would be fine
