Hi All

My 7 month old boy has been breast fed from day 1 however I am going back to work end August and I need to sort this.

I've tried expressing milk into bottke and putting breast milk in the teat - not worked

I try giving him 3 bottles a day all refused and cries until he gets breast milk.

He refuses a dummy as well as bottles.

He refuses sippy cup too.
I've honestly tried it all.

He's up every 2 hours for feed at night but only uses me for comfort for 5 to 10 mins then down for another 2 hour sleep and round and round we go til i thankfully see the day light and know ive made it woo hoo.

Health visitor just tells me keep trying and even suggested cold turkey on him but thats easier said than done with bursting my ear drum .

I have a 3 year old son also and I don't want him to wake with screams in the night.

Any help would be appreciated x

I have also tried someone else feeding him the bottle and putting him in a tilted rocking chair type thing and feeding him the bottle with no success.

It's bad enough having to return to work without having the worry of how woll my child survive while I'm at work and my poor partner having to deal with hours of screaming.

My 3 year old room bf and bottle no problem so i done everything exactly the same but refused. I didnt expect this problem
I'm stressed out in a nut shell. X

Had the same scenario exactly a couple of years ago. In the end he accepted a sippy cup of water happily at nursery from day one aged 7 months and never took bf or formula in any bottle or cup even though nursery kept trying. Really stressed me out and overshadowed end of mat leave for nothing. He kept breastfeeding overnight until 18monthsbtw

My son never took a bottle. I went back when he was 8 months. Nursery would give him 2 yogurts when the other babies had their bottles if he refused his beaker of milk (which he did). I just fed him morning and as soon as I collected him....then all evening! It was a pain in the arse but no bottle worked!!! He has never liked cows milk and still won’t even tolerate it in cereal aged 8! Lol! Best of luck! If your baby is a good eater there are ways around it.

He fed for 20 months in total.

Thanks for your replies ladies.

What a carry on this is !!I honestly didn't expect to have this problem as i didn't have an issue with my first son.

I'll just have to keep going with it and hope one day it falls into place.

If i wasn't going back to work it wouldn't be that bad but needs must.

Neither of mine ever took a bottle or dummy. They went straight to water or cows milk at mealtimes from tommy tippee cups when they started on solids (but did keep on with BF alongside until 2yo).

Seems lots of us had the same problem. Try not to worry about getting him on a bottle as you can see lots of us managed without ever using one, so look for alternatives. Best of luck. It all works out x
