am going back to work soon and dd will be going to nursery 2 days and 1 day with her daddy. she's nearly 11 months and has been bf. not too bad at eating - doing blw, and will take small amounts from beakers with spouts (with and without handles). at the moment bf are:

waking
10am
3pm
before bed

have decided to stop bf for definite during the day and not sure about morning and evenings . should i switch to formula in a bottle? not sure if it's worth it as she could be having cow's milk in a month - could this be from a bottle or should i be using a beaker. i don't really know much about this. thanks

Hi DCB. I too am going back to work really soon. Here's what I have managed to crack - started at 10.5 months. I don't feed at all on waking. This was the first one I dropped. As soon as she wakes up I give her a beaker of water. Sometimes she drinks heaps others hardly any. At breakfast I give her formula in a beaker (she's never taken bottles). Also use formula in her cereal. Nothing at 10am but before her morning sleep I do offer her water again. At lunch its water again or VERY diluted juice (1 in 10). After her avo sleep (which could be as late at 4pm when she goes down) I offer her more water and a snack. Dinners around 6. After bath & immediately before bed I bf. I pretty much went cold turkey over a week for her and she didn't seem to mind at all. All water is in beakers or little cups. She also likes drinking out of a normal glass with a straw. Haven't had much success with cows milk but trying again now (she's one). Not sure about when to give up bf at bedtime - either before I go back to work or after...have mixed views. Will keep an eye on this to see if anyone else has bright ideas! Hope this helps.

PS As soon as I stopped bf during day appetite went up HEAPS!!!!!

dcb i went back to work p/t when ds was 12m. never bothered wtih formula or cows milk or any of that, just fed morning and evening no problemo. another feed midday on non-work days and not always then.

you might have to express a bit at first during the day although i didn't need to.
