Aptamil - new formula issues??

I've read reports in the media that since Aptamil have changed their formula recently a lot of people have had problems with the new formulation. I'm wondering how common this actually is, and how many have used the new tubs without issues?

I'm 31 weeks pregnant and plan to use Aptamil as it's the most widely available in my area, but concerned about the recent claims. I'll be using perfect prep machine at home and ready to feed when out and about.

Does anyone have first-hand recent experience of the new Aptamil they are able to share?

I've used Aptamil for the last 8 months. Have just switched after trying two tubs of the new formula.

It is awful. It sort of curdles / separates, and sometimes my son would cry and push the bottle away after tasting it, even though he was hungry.

Thanks @BasicUsername . Could I ask what you switched to and if it was ok? I think I'd like to have an alternative brand in mind.

I used Aptamil exclusively for a year with DS1 so no experience of any other brands!

I switched to Cow & Gate, as I asked the HV when I had him weighed and she said it was very similar and it's also easy to get hold of (I live quite rurally, so big supermarkets / Boots are a 30 mile round trip) and so far it's been great, a really easy switch with no problems, and the formula mixes as it should.

Plus they do the pre made bottles for when you are out and about, which I use frequently Smile

We switched to cow and gate too. Not available easily locally to me, so I order 6 tubs from Ocado every two week so I have a stock pile.

I used Aptamil then switched to cow and gate with 6m old as i heard about formula issues. No issues with ds adapting.

I've been using Aptamil for my 7m old since gradually switching from ebf a few weeks ago (used Aptamil for previous child which is why I've used it again).

Have used both the old and new recipe with her and have to say I've had no issues whatsoever. I know a lot of people have had problems mixing the new powder so I'm wondering if I've been ok because I use a perfect prep machine which dissolves the powder in boiling water?

I don't know for sure but if that is the case, it shouldn't be because it should dissolve whichever way people make up their bottles.

So no problems here but if anyone does want to stock up on old recipe, I have seen it around still, not so much in big supermarkets but in smaller shops that maybe don't restock their shelves so often.
