Hi all

This baby#4 and thought I know about feeding. Never had a baby with any of the above so feel a bit clueless as to what it is.
DS is a big baby I formula feed him. He is 5 weeks old and is quite greedy and eats fast at times and he has had 3 big vomit within this 5 weeks so assume that is not excessive. He is also very gasy and does struggle with bringing up burps but we manage and he does go to sleep ok although he is mainly being swaddled for sleep.
What worries me he constantly has a flammy sound to his throat like he needs a good cough to clear it. He constantly swallows as if something is coming up but when he is sick i wouldn’t say iit’s full of mucus like when they have a cold and it’s all just comes back so I don’t know what it is or if it is bad enough to investigate further
Been to gp who checked him over but not majorly concerned
Any advice is appreciated

If he’s phlegmy, I’d try raising the top of his crib by putting some books underneath the end. By raising it just a little it may help him to get rid of it Smile

If he’s vomiting and gassy, has he got any other symptoms like mucus in his poo?

Thanks for your reply. No, no mucus in the poo which is what I would have expected if he had snot/flem in his throat. It does sound like acid is coming up. The vomiting seem to be getting worse too yesterday he had 2 full feeds that he brought back while he was eating and they weren’t the burp induced sic either. He seem to get into a frenzy of eating around 5 on and he will sometimes carry on until 9 pm and take about 12oz or more by then. Yesterday he did that again but around 8 30 he was choking and unsettled but still wanting to eat and that’s when he just brought everything back then fell asleep.
Do babies overeat I mean how can he fit so much food in his tummy??

Sounds partly like reflux? Have you tried anything for that?
Are you using a slow flow bottle aswell if he is drinking too quickly? He may be drinking more than he needs because he doesnt realise he is full?

I’m using no2 on advent bottles and up to last week there have been no problems. and I find it it’s only when he gets into this frenzy state that even before start eating he is gasping and swallowing air then becomes gasy but he settles quickly after feed and no issues with sleeping.today there has been no vomit yet. I take the bottle off him after a coupe of oz and burp him and so maybe that helps
Bought dr brown bottles but have ln’t opened them yet so we shall see how the next couple of day goes

Maybe it was just a phase then hopefully. Sounds like your doing everything I can think of!
