Tongue tie recs north London

Hi all
Can anyone recommend someone who might be able to deal with my 7 day old’s posterior tongue tie? It was only found today at a breastfeeding workshop and the NHS referral will take 6-8 weeks the midwife says. I just can’t face the idea of another 2 months of bleeding nipples and struggles to latch and feed so I hoped someone could recommend a private place to get the snip? Also any idea what it costs to get it done privately?
Thank you x

Firstly congratulations on your new LO Thanks

I don’t know of any I. London sorry, I live a fair bit away and I don’t know how much they cost either, my babies are now teens.

If you are thinking of going privately, have a look at the Association of Tongue Tie Practioners. I’d also give one of the Bfing Helplines a call in the morning, now if your in need, and talk about how you feel and how you can continue to bf until, and after, the division Thanks

Dr Malcolm Levinkind, google his name & call his practice when you can. They’re really helpful.

Not sure of tongue tie costs as we had lip tie.

Katie Fisher - she's excellent but I think is in Croydon. She also has an NHS clinic at King's College hospital. Congratulations on your new baby! Flowers

I cant believe they are telling you it will take that long to deal with a tongue tie. Our DS was diagnosed at birth but no one referred us anywhere until my midwife asked if my nipples hurt, it was after two weeks when my nipples were blistered and my DS was feeding all the time that I was referred and I was seen quickly by the team at Kings College London. He was booked in after assessment and had his snip aged 4 weeks and was the oldest there! Ask for a referral or go private-

There are also plenty of tongue tie clinics and ask for a recommendation . We were going to see Katie Fisher but got seen by the NHS. Its such a straightforward procedure and what a relief when breast feeding!

Thank you all so much. We managed to get to see Ann dobson who was utterly lovely and could tell by my frantic tone I was pretty desperate and who agreed to come out and see us last night. Classic tongue tie and was snipped straight away.
She fed really well straight after no pain for me which was amazing but we struggled to latch at all last night and ended up with expressed milk. Think she is a bit sore and doesn’t particularly want to use her tongue. We shall keep persevering and I might give one of the BF lines a call about alternative holds for me as I’m rather large breasted but have developed carpal tunnel so need an alternative to the rugby hold really
Thanks again x

Great update OP. We were told to massage the area every day really quite hard to prevent it not healing properly and being re done. That’s the bit I didn’t like! Breast feeding was far easier though afterwards. We were all happy!

They babas find it a little overwhelming once they start feeding as there not used to the volume of milk. So don’t panic I had exactly the same issue after the initial first breast feeding going well. Settled down after a night.

Thank you both. She’s sort of latched this morning but quite shallowly so it might take a while to unlearn bad habits!
