Stopping breastfeeding.

Hi I’m hoping for some advice. I have a 10 month old who I have breastfed since the start. He’s never really been interested in a bottle. I’ve ended up feeding a lot longer than I ever imagined. However, I’m going back to work soon and I want to stop feeding both for this reason and for my sanity! He doesn’t sleep well and I’m exhausted!
He will take milk from a cup but not from me!
Any advice on how to move forward?
He doesn’t feed often in the day but lots at night (for comfort I think!)
Thanks in advance!

I returned to work at 10 months withdd2 and expressed. She would take a bottle but could have had it from a cup quite happily. She naturally weaned over time but fed until she was 3.5 years. Neither daughters slept through until they started school full time though and dd2 still fed in the night until she was well over 2. Ds is my third and slept through from around 2.5 years and is still going strong with morning and bedtime feeds.

I had periods of thinking I couldn't do it anymore but they passed quickly. I've been a single parent with ds since day one so the feeding has been very tiring but there was no way he was giving up.

Have a read of "how weaning happens" which is an NCT book as that will give you help on weaning your baby off the breast with minim trauma to both of you.

Well done on 10 months, so many don't do that long so be proud of that Cake (cake because you need cake when feeding!)
