dd losing interest in boob - help

hi dd is nearly 7 months and started solids at 6 months. The past couple of days she has drastically cut down the time she spends on the boob. Dp said he thought her pee was abit yellow. I know she needs milk but how do I know she is getting enough. Can't really force her to the boob, espicially as she has 6 REALLY sharp teeth! She has taken to solids reasonably well but definitely is not big eater. Help.

Babies are good at getting what they need. She may well be getting the same amount of milk she always did but just faster. Do you offer her breastfeeds between meals? Do you read her signals and feed her when she asks for it? I am sure she is absolutely fine. Next week she may change her pattern and never be off

Hi mears, Thanks. She has developed abit more interest. I should just remember she is the expert in this feeding business.

my dd did the same thing when solids were started, i too thought she was less interested in boob.... but no... just a change in milk habit... still feeding a very keen dd at 10 months... her patterns change a fair bit, if its hot, teeth are coming, if i've been apart from her.... i let her feed on demand still... like you say, they are the experts!

My ds is also 7mths and is now v easily distracted at the boob - big bro and sis have a lot to do with that, but he still seems to take what he needs as well as his solids and drinks offered from a cup. He's on 3 bf's a day, sometimes more if it's hot or he signals. I wouldn't worry about it. Babies are amazing at knowing how much they need and may be taking more than you think at feedtimes.HTH
