Cauliflower nipple anyone?

Since stopping breastfeeding a couple of months ago, one nipple has never quite recovered. Can only describe as looking a bit cauliflowery (but not in colour thankfully!). A bit worried and wondering what to do about it. It's not painful, just a bit sensitive. Anyone?

Can't really help, - but I'm bf and I have c/f nipples!

Thought they'd go back to normal now I've stopped. Well, one has at least.

Dunno about the shape but they gradually dessensitise (or resensitise depending on how youl ook at it)

Umm I had this when breastfeeding and put that Kamillosan stuff on for a week and it sort of shrivelled back to it's normal humungous size.

Any remote chance that you might have thrush on that nipple? Try using a bit of Canesten on it (as long as there's no chance that the LO will have a taste!). If it's not thrush then try the Kamillosan, or any other bland, greasy, soothing cream that you prefer. It may want a bit of moisturising and tlc.

Did that one have a rough time of it? My left one was cracked and nasty for ages at the beginning and has never really recovered, 15 months in. I can see white scar tissue on it. It's bigger and thicker and always sensitive compared to the right. It'll be interesting to see what happens when (if!) I stop b/f.

Danceswiththbaby - sounds exactly like my problem. This side was cracked and was always the painful side. It's like the cracks are still there but have gone really dry and even slightly whiteish on one part hence my cauliflower description. Charming I know!

Will try the canesten just in case it's lingering thrush - had this too when bf - oh the joys

Don't want to alarm you, but I have a little "know your Breasts" book, a breast cancer awareness book and they refer, with a picture of a cauliflower looking nipple as Paget's disease. It could be a type of eczema which is fine if you have eczema on other areas of your body, however if this is the only place then you must have it looked at immediately as it can indicate cancer spreading from the milk ducts to the nipple. Again, don't take this the wrong way, but you should have it looked at rather than asking us who don't have any qualifications.

Spacepuppy- thanks for your post - have just googled Pagets (I know, probably the worse thing to do) and having read the symptoms I wouldn't say my problem sounds like this. I think my "cauliflower" description has made it sound worse than it is. It's more like the cracked nipples you can get when bf which have never cleared up. But you're right, I'll mention it to my doc next time I'm there just to be on the safe side. Thanks for your concern/info.
