In the last 3 months ive had a recurring milk bleb/blocked duct in exactly the same place, 6 times. What am i doing wrong?? Is it possible that i just have a 'dodgy' tube? Hmm Any help/advice greatly received! (DS is 9 months if that makes any difference)

Honestly don’t know on that one sorry. Have you called one of the Bfing Helplines? They’re usually very good.

Do you always feed in the same position? Can you switch up positions so that baby's chin is aligned with the spot that gets blocked? The part that gets drained the best is where the baby's chin is.

Thanks ladies. I haven't rung anyone no, I think if it happens again I will! (it's cleared now). I feed in 2 positions (sitting on my lap/laying down in bed). The spot is always on the top of my nipple, so not sure I could get his chin there Confused

Not sure about dodgy tubes but sorted blocked ducts by laying dd down and dangling boob into mouth with her nose pointing at the dodgy bit.

DaisyChainsForever · 20/06/2018 21:48

@Di11y how do your position yourself when you feed like that?

Can you sort of massage/smooth the dodgy bit towards your nipple during a feed?

That or feed with his legs around your neck, or laid down but in opposite directions, or dangly boob like a pp said (lay them on the bed and sort of crouch over them, it's uncomfortable for me and I feel ridiculous), you want their chin pointing at the dodgy bit I think.

If the spot's at the top of your breast i would try doing 1 feed a day lying down but with you and the baby lying in opposite directions, i.e. your feet point to the foot of the bed and the baby's point to the headboard. That should allow that spot to be well drained.

"Dangle feeding" like a pp said is really good for clearing blocked ducts. Just lay baby on their back on the bed and then crouch over them on all fours so that your boob dangles down into their mouth. It looks daft but it works a treat.

Thank you everyone. Am going to try the different positions.
