My 3 week old has been feeding for every 2 hours for the past week, i thought it was a growth spurt but she isn't letting up. Is this normal? When will it get easier?

Yes absolutely normal.

There's a growth spurt at 6 weeks where they feed constantly, then it begins to space out.

Co-sleeping is great for getting sleep yourself, just feed lying down and sleep when baby sleeps.

Feeding often at night is also normal - the baby is just boosting supply, and prolactin levels are higher at night.

My 11 week old is still feeding every two hours during the day!

Yes, completely normal. Mine fed every 2 hours really until probably about 12 weeks (but longer stretches at night). I would say he often goes 3 hours now, but can be more like 1.5-2 hours depending on what we're doing (if we've been out all day and he hasn't fed much, he'll feed often when we get home). He's slept through all night since 12 weeks though, so he gets what he needs during the day and goes longer at night. But definitely at 3 weeks they are still working to put on weight and build your supply.

sadly yes :-( I had one who fed every hour for the whole of the first month and parts of the second arrrggghhh!!
Hes a healthy 3yo now who completely weaned onto solids by 1yo.

I had a friend say to me "The book says feed her every two hours, but then it takes her two hours to feed, do I wait two hours that or keep going because it's her feeding time?!"

It's all normal:)

Mine is nearly three weeks and eats ALL THE TIME - not unusual to be feeding for two hours with only breaks for burping / nappy change.

TwinkleMerrick · 13/06/2018 02:20

Blessedmango I feel for you, the only upside is I'm losing all my baby weight because I don't have time to eat Grinlet's hope it eases off soon xx

Currently feeding DC2, and thumbing through and laughing at all the baby books I read religiously when DC1 was born, panicking that she did not feed and go to sleep according to the 45 minute schedule I believed "all the normal babies follow."

CluelessMummy · 13/06/2018 04:05

This one does exactly what the last one did - feeds 2-3 hours at a time, all day every day. Wish I'd had Mumsnet back then!

icklekid · 13/06/2018 04:26

So normal and in hot weather they may feed more so they don't get dehydrated!
