Breast Feeding after reduction

Hi Guys... My boyfriend and I are hoping to conceive our first child. I had a breast reduction two years ago and put it off for years for fear of not being able to feed. My breasts were SO big and unbelievably droopy, especially since i was only 25! But i am filled with regret and cant bear the thought of being unable to feed my baby naturally! Has anyone had experience with breastfeeding after surgery? Good or bad? Any tips or advice would be appreciated! Char xx

My sister has breastfed two babies after a reduction. She had the surgery when she was 21. First baby at 28 and second at 36. She successfully fed the first for over 2 years and is still feeding the second who is 15 months.

I'm not going to lie... she had an extremely difficult time with the first and second. The second had a tongue tie though. I always put the struggle with the first down to some tissue damage but I'm not 100% sure.

The point is, it can be done and you won't know if the surgery caused any problems until you try. Don't beat yourself up if it doesn't work out. Having extremely large breasts is debilitating!

If you want to breastfeed get you ducks in a row once you are pregnant and get all the info on support (ie peer support, la Leche, lactation consultants, etc)
