3 week old pushing like crazy

Help! my 3 week old is pushing so hard his face goes purple and seems like the eyes will pop out. He's been doing this on and off for many days now but it seems to be getting worse, i'm scared his veins in his head will explode. Why is he pushing so hard? He eats well, quite often and is doing a lot of poo and farting too, but still keeps pushing every now and then, non stop. Is it colic, gases, reflux.. what is it? And how to help him?

Normally babies who are getting used to pooing will be uncomfortable when they are trying to go and this is normal. If he’s actually screaming, that’s something different and you would need to speak to the GP.
