Changing from anti reflux milk to cows milk

Hi all, I was hoping for some advice on changing milks for my 1yo DS. He is currently on 2 bottles a day of c&g anti reflux milk but I would like to move him to full fat cows milk. He has 4oz with breakfast and 8oz at bedtime.

My questions are -
• has anyone moved from reflux milk to cows milk before?
• how do I transition from one to the other? Do I do a straight swap or add cows milk to the formula?
• should I warm the milk up first? I tried once with cold milk in a sippy cup but he just refused it.

Any advice/ experiences are greatly appreciated.

Reflux can often be because of cows milk. Have you seen a dietitian? Started a milk ladder?

My son is being seen by a paediatrician and is on omeprazole to help with the reflux. Cows milk doesn't seem to be the issue, which is why I want to move onto cows milk as a drink. He has had reflux issues from birth, couldn't keep anything down as he had fluid in his stomach and lungs due to being born by EMCS, and had to be fed by a tube.
He is a lot better now than when he was younger, is still sick but not as often. Weaning was hell as it seemed to aggravate his reflux more than just being on bottles.

It might be the thickness that he may struggle with. Have you tried it warm? I would be tempted to just try and switch over but if he doesn’t like it or starts vomiting then mix it in with the anti reflux formula until he gets used to it

Thank you owlette. I wasn't sure if I should be warming it up, I might try that since his formula is warm. I might do a straight swap with his morning bottle and have his formula ready as a back up just in case. That way I can see if it does make him vomit.

Has anyone else got any tips they could share?

Both mine were under dietician and I did a ladder to introduce while milk
Definitely don’t do a whole bottle to start!
I started milk in cooking ( small), amounts, small amounts in bottle, and built up over a month
It is also about taste so hence small and often

Thank you Fabulous. That is really helpful to know. He has already had milk in food and has yogurts as well, and loves them, so I guess the next step is small amounts in his formula.
