Formula feeding too much?

My DS is 10 days old and is currently taking 3-3.5oz every 2-3 hours on average. Is this too much!? According to dr Google it is.

He's happy on formula and mostly finishes his bottles with no forcing from my end, wins him twice during each feed and he normally burps. I'm feeding on demand as such in that he appears hungry every 2-3 hours (rooting, poking his tongue out and turning his head) so I offer him a feed. But I've worked out that he's having around 30oz a day sometimes and I think he's meant to have about 22oz. We're trying to make sure it's nearer the 3 hour mark, especially at night but I'm conscious that he's feeding too much, is that possible?

How heavy is he? My son was a big baby and would easily eat that amount. Feed him what he wants but if you’re feeling worried about it get him weighed to track weight gain. In my experience it’s better to feed them regularly during the day as they get all they need then and stop feeding during the night eventually.

It will fluctuate is what I found (I bottle fed two babies). Sometimes they are having a growth spurt and it feels like you can't fill them and other times you'll be stressing that they aren't having enough. I found it useful to remember that if my baby was being breastfed I would feed on demand and have no idea how much they were getting, so why worry? If it keeps up then maybe keep an eye that they aren't gaining too much weight but otherwise just feed on demand.

I had one guzzler who was having nearly 40oz some days, he's now 2 and stick thin and the worst eater ever! My other DS hated being fed with milk and was on just 10oz a day sometimes, he's now one and massive. These things tend to depend on the child but don't worry, you're doing fine.

I’d also carry on as you are and just weigh regularly to keep track. It may be that he’s just having a growth spurt and needs it!
