Hello

I am due to have my LO in about 3 weeks and would certainly like to breast feed, but would like to (once BF is established) express so that my DP and Mum could maybe feed the baby occasionally.

Not sure when I need to get steriliser and bottles or indeed how many bottles to get though....

Can anyone give me any ideas please?? Maybe on a particular brand of bottle too...I like the look of the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature ones....

Thanks

We are doing the same - although I am rubbish at expressing so not often! The tommee tippee ones seem quite good - we have both avent and tommee tippee - DS2 seems to get on with the tommee tippee ones a bit better and they do look more nipple shaped than avent ones. (or maybe that is just my nipples!! )

I think for starters I wouldn't bother getting more than a couple of bottles - unless you are really going to go for it expressing wise.

Personally I don't get on with the tommee tippee breast pump (although it does have an adaptor to fit the avent bottles). I get on better with the hand held avent one (which doesn't have an adaptor - grrr) but having said that, I get so little milk out that way it is like blood out of a stone anyway!!

HTH a little bit. I am sure someone else can advise you the pros/cons of expressing, when to start etc etc.

This is what I planned to do. Six months down the line my daughter has never had a bottle and I have a lovely cupboard full of bottles. So just buy a couple of bottles. I have used my electric pump when I've had blocked ducts etc.. I've got a Medela double pump, it a double pump is not necessary unless you are going to do it all the time.
