Biting

My baby is 9 months old and has started biting when feeding. I can't put into words how much it hurts and to be honest I'm at the stage when I'm ready to pack it all in. I wanted to breast feed till he was 12 months, but this seems impossible. I've y tried immediately stopping feeding when he does it but doesn't seem to work. He's worse when teething. Any one any ideas how to get through this? Thanks

Arg, the biting breaks me too. I have no magic solution but what I do is take DS off the breast, apply teething gel and give him a soothing gel toy to chew. I wait about 10-20 minutes then re-latch. Unfortunately he sometimes thinks this is a really fun game and the biting continues! In that case, I give him solids (he is 10.5 months old) if he is genuinely hungry then wait til he is really sleepy as he is much less likely to bite. Hope it improves for you soon!

I’d give one of the Bfing Helplines a call this morning. I was were you are at 7 months with my DC1, really ready to give up. I gave them a call and ended up feeding for over 2 years.
