Bottle to Sippy Cup for milk

Hello,

Looking for advice on how get DD to take her milk from a sippy cup rather than a bottle (she is 12 months) please. She was on 3 x 8oz bottles of formula a day up until last week when I started to gradually give her 6 oz of formula mixed with 2oz of cows milk etc. and will gradually increase until it's 100% moo.

DD will only take her mix of formula and cows milk from a tommy tippy bottle, despite happily drinking water from a range of sippy cups from six months. How on earth do I get her to drop the bottle and take her milk from a sippy cup?? Help!

Also, at what age did you stop sterilising bottles?

Can't answer most of your questions because my DD uses bottles and I can't see how she's ever going to drink enough from a cup to have her milk from one 🙈 but with regard to sterilising, you should keep sterilising as long as you're using formula. Once you're fully on cows milk there's no need to sterilise now she's over 12 months.

My little girl is bf but she's 1 this week. She has always refused bottles, and only has tiny sips of water etc from cups! However I have started really trying to get her to drink cows milk and she will if I sit with her with an ordinary mug or beaker, but the sippy cup that she will drink the most from is the nuby one I (think) its called a grip n sip, the sippy bit is soft rubber like a teat and they have to sort of bite it to get the liquid out, so it doesn't spill either.

Sorry I also can't help but also wondering the same thing. Hopefully someone will be along soon to tell us how they've made it work! My 11 month old also drinking 3 bottles of milk a day and happy to take water from a cup - but she gets grizzly for her bottle and only the bottle will satisfy her, not milk in a cup.

I've actually stopped sterilising bottles, since DD was 9 months old. I now do it just once a week, in between cleaning with hot soapy water. Official advice is to continue until 12 months.

You don't need to sterilise at this age.
Can't offer much advice except both my boys continued with a bottle before bed until gone 2 but with beakers in the day. I did try loads of different alternatives but couldn't get them to take to them. The eldest gave his up on his own, I think when we were on holiday and it was a bit hot for milk. I am hoping that DS2 will do the same.
(Ones now 10 and the other one just turned 2)
Both have good teeth and no problems from the bottles

Thanks for the advice everyone! Reassuring to hear that it's not just me.

Still very much the same on the bottle front here but have now started using sippy cups for the lunchtime one. She hardly takes any from the cup and gets so annoyed!

We got a different type of sippy cup to use only for milk so that DS knew and recognised it as milk rather than water, which helped for us. We use this one: www.tommeetippee.co.uk/product/essentials-free-flow-super-sipper
