Can bf supply adjust based on time of day?

Dumb 1st time bf question: Is it possible for my body to understand I need to make less milk at night because baby wants to sleep 8 hours, but still make enough milk during the day? Or is it like an on/off tap where if he eats less at night there will also be less during the day? And is he getting enough calories if he isn't getting a feed during the night?

If he feeds lots during the day and less at night, your body will adjust the amount of milk made to suit that pattern.

How old is baby? If he’s producing plenty of wet and dirty nappies, and is alert when awake then that’s a good sign of enough milk.

Baby is 3 months, happy and alert, lots of nappy changes. He's been going 4-5hrs between feeds at night without problems, but has now decided he sometimes wants to sleep 8hrs. I don't know if it's possible to make more milk during the day and less at night, or if it's basically a constant supply with one speed iyswim. Worried that feeding less at night will mean I also have less milk during the day?

No at 3 months your milk supply will have settled down, you won’t suddenly stop because he starts sleeping through. It’s only really an issue in the early days. Your body doesn’t know if it’s day or night, just when he feeds more it’ll make more if that makes sense?
