Hi,

I'm really interested to hear thoughts on baby food and weaning.

What do you like most about baby food? e.g. Convenience? Organic ingredients? Do you prefer store bought or homemade?

What would be a game changer for you when it comes to feeding your small family?

And what type of weaning are you doing?

Thanks in advance x

Hi! I have a DS who is nearly 4. I had to go back to work when he was 8 months old so I was keen to get him fully weaned before then.
I tried him on some shop bought fruity baby food when he was 6 months and he was very keen so I just gradually reduced his breastfeeds throughout the day and replaced with baby food but continued with the night feeds (by that age he would feed before going to sleep for the night at around 11pm and again when he woke at around 6am). I gradually phased out his morning feeds first followed by his night feeds and by 10 months he was fully weaned. At times it felt like 2 steps forward 2 steps back but he was always happy with the baby food, just not as keen to loose breastfeeding altogether at first.
We used a mixture of home made and shop bought baby food (we would sometimes blend up whatever we were eating). We struggled to find a breakfast that he liked so we made our own, a weetabix mushed up with milk and topped with an apricot or raspberry fromage frais (he’s allergic to strawberry) he loved it!
DD is 4 months old and I plan to try the same method with her as I am due back at work around the same time.
