Hello,

I'm hoping someone can help I have what i think is the sorest nipple in the world!! Been to the Dr and now been given daktarin - the first gel she gave me made it worse. I have a white spot and the area around it is very pink and sensitive to touch. Has anyone else had this and how did you manage to treat it. The Dr said to stop feeding on this side but i don't really want to as already had mastitis on this side and my DS is a very hungary baby and tends to finish one side and then take some off the other.

Thank you!

Hi sarahblue

You might want to try calling the NCT breasfeeding helpline. I had a similar problem & was determined to carry on. It was a matter of getting the positioning right. Having thought I had this sussed, my baby grew, thus changing her angle of approach to my poor, sore, nipples!

Good luck.

I had this problem afew months ago and I just couldnt inderstand what it was. Came over night and I had a white spot on my nipple as if it was blocked. I found that using a nipple softer cream (I used Avents Nipple cream but only cos I couldnt get hold of Lanisoh crea,) helped, and it went in afew days.

I am still not sure what it was and it really was agony feeding dd (I was trying not to cry the whole time) but it is the only thing to do, I think. That and warm showers helped.

Sorry, not much help but if anyone does know what it is I would lov to know!

sarah,

i used SIlverette and they healed my badly cracked nipple within 2 days. Also had mastitis 3 weeks ago and i used one of those Silverlon pads which cleared it in no time.
