Pumping to save after glass of wine

We have a seven week old and DW is breastfeeding and pumps so I can feed our daughter at night. She's had a glass of wine about an hour ago and just started to pump. She's now worried that the expressed milk has alcohol in it. We know that alcohol levels return to normal in breast milk as it does in the blood but is that the same for milk stored outside of the body? She's ready to chuck the lot but I just wanted to check first.

The amount of alcohol that gets into breast milk after mum has had a single glass of wine is absolutely minute. There was an article written a while back which someone will hopefully link which worked out it equated to around one shot of spirits in a swimming pool. I wouldn't worry about it.

Dont waste it. It will be fine! If you are ok to drive a car you are ok to BF.

Alcohol level in milk is the same as the mum's blood concentration level, i.e. a v v tiny amount. No need to chuck it. Try the kellymom site for excellent advice on this and all things breastfeeding.
