Tesco always sold out of baby formula

Has anyone else noticed that Tesco or any other supermarket is constantly sold out of baby formula?

We use click and collect and for the last 4 weeks we have been told they are out of stock of Aptamil 1st infant milk.

We have heard rumours of people bulk buying it and sending it abroad.

We like in Stoke on Trent but wondered if anyone else has experienced this?

This happened in 2012 when there were production issues identified. I understand the mamia Aldi milk is similar to Aptimil.

We use the aptamil profutura no. 1. Whenever I see it, I pick up two boxes, as it can be like gold dust near us! Nearly ran out when it snowed because none stocked in the shops. Felt like the worst mum in the world

Same in Morrisons up north. They are often out of stock. In Australia the Chinese are buying it as soon as the store opens and send it abroad on a profit. Its awful.

We could hardly ever find Aptamil in a supermarket best bet was boots but they never had a huge amount. As it’s so difficult to get hold off I think people do stock up I know we did whenever we could get it. We have since switched milks and now order direct from the company as the ready made is never stocked in any shops. Not sure if aptamil etc offer this service?

Thank you everyone! I'm definitely going to just stock up every time I spot any when I'm out and about. Bloody crazy!

my dd worked in boots. they had a limit of i think 3 tubs per customer. they had real issues around people buying it to sell abroad.

she says its always worth asking cos often people have emptied the shelf or sometimes they limit what they put out to avoid that scenario/argument.

Use the Cow and Gate... it's exactly the same formula but in different packaging!

Yes there is always an issue with aptamil - it's a complete faff and if I'd known I would have started my DD on cow & gate!

Yep, use Cow & Gate. Same factory and everything.

Aptamil is just C&G but marketed to a different socioeconomic group.

yes I also remarked this. We use Lebenswert and just order it from myorganicformula.com/ so we have enough at home and it cannot happen that it is sold out. Also I don't have to carry it home :P
