Reflux at one week?

Hi there,

I'd be grateful for some advice.

My little girl is 10 days old, EBF and has gained weight well since her 5 day check.

She has however started to bring large amounts of milk up at most feeds from day 8 - she can soak 1-2muslins per feed. She isn't distressed but I suspect this might be reflux?

For the last 48 hours I've been burping her multiple times during a feed and keeping her upright for 40 mins or so after. I've also tried infacol to help bring wind up but none of this seems to reduce the vomiting. Last night 2 hours post feed I lay her down to change her and she brought back curdled milk despite being upright all of that time.

Is it too early for reflux? Would she be distressed if it was? Could she be taking milk too quickly at the breast and that's why she's vomiting?

Has anyone experienced similar & what did you do?

Thank you.

If she’s not distressed I think it’s unlikeky that it’s reflux. I’m not trained though so it might be worth speaking to your MW Smile

It is absolutely not too early for reflux... DS was diagnosed by paediatrics at 3 days old after an awful night in hospital (I was still in recovering from a c-section). The midwife told the lady in the bay next to me that she couldn't assist her at that time as she was dealing with a baby who wouldn't stop throwing up... that was my DS.
DS struggled in the early days but never seemed overly distressed.
He is now 11 months and finally off the meds. We have good days and bad days but we are definitely over the worse.
I hope you get your DD sorted very soon.
