8 week old drop in appetite?

Just posting in case anyone else has had this and wondering if it’s normal.

My 8 week old is mainly bottle-fed (breast milk, if that’s relevant), with the odd breastfeed or formula feed. He normally has a voracious appetite and recently this has dropped quite a lot. So, he was having 160ml bottles of Breastmilk regularly and finishing them with ease, sometimes looking for more. Now he can only seem to finish 90-120mls. He probably has 7 or 8 bottles a day.

Yesterday, he had a bottle of formula, which he doesn’t usually have, (I’d thrown away that much Breastmilk from unfinished bottles that we ran out), and he wolfed It down. Now I’m not sure if that was coincidence or something to do with my Breastmilk Confused? Or else (wishful thinking perhaps) his appetite has just calmed down a bit?

Any thoughts much appreciated.

Do you need to buy new teats? Perhaps they are too slow and he is getting bored/tired of drinking from them.

Also is there anything else that may have changed his appetite, like his immunisations?

It could be the teats actually, as they are the MAM ones. Their guidelines say 0-2 months for the number 1s and ds is just 2 mo! I didn’t think of it being the teats, as I thought he would have got upset during feeds if it was that. He just seems a bit blah rather than upset iyswim. But, I have some TT bottles with variflow teats which I might try then. Thanks for tip!

He hasn’t had his immunisations yet, but we’ve all had a bit of a cold this week. Could also be that.

So, not the end of an epic growth spurt then. I was secretly hoping I could cut down on pumping sessions! Oh well.

Hmmmm the variflow teats didn’t go so well. I’m just feeding him teeny bits of Breastmilk at a time now as then I don’t end up chucking any out.
