Breast lump

I gave up breastfeeding after 6 days because the pain and engorgement in my boobs was too much. My dd is now 3 weeks old and I discovered a big lump in the base of my right boob yesterday.
I went to the doctor who has given me antibiotics thinking it could be an infection.. and to go back in a week.
I'm petrified it could be cancer

I don't feel ill which I thought you would do with mastitis??

I'm going out of mind with worry.. I've tried massaging the lump in a hot bath and now I've made it sore.

If you were Bfing the advice would be to massage the lump whilst you fed, but I’m not sure if you are ffing. Do you think that trying to hand express could help?

I've recently had mastitis, cold cabbage leaves alternated with a hot water bottle, plus the antibiotics cleared it. Try not to worry, fingers crossed it clears before you need to go back to the doctors.

Is the lump red on the surface? And a bit itchy. I recently had mastitis & even though I didn't feel poorly I still had the lump, redness etc.

Hi

Thanks for the responses 😘

I've now taken the antibiotics for 7 days and the lump is still there and very sore I have been massaging in the bath but not helping .. il try the cabbage leaves.
The area is very red and itchy.
I'm being referred to the breast clinic so fingers crossed it's a blockage and they can help me

I gave up breastfeeding pretty quick because it was so so painful but this was coming up to 4 weeks ago now

If it is Mastitis I’m not trained but I think you’d be feeling pretty rotten and have a temperature. There is some information here on the difference between plugged ducts and Mastitis. If it is Mastitis, the article also tells you the recommended antibiotics and suggestions taking them for 10 to 14 days.

Thankyou @JiltedJohnsJulie this is great information it doesn't sound like I have mastitis but do have the blockage 😫
