Help!

My LO has been EBF but we are gradually introducing more bottles and have been given a Perfect Prep machine. If I set it to 6oz it dispenses 6oz of water but the bottle has 7oz due to the weight of powder....should I be using 6 or 7 scoops of formula?

6 scoops of powder for 6oz. This will make around a 7oz bottle as the powder increases the volume of the water.

it's one scoop for each oz of water no matter how you make the bottle.

Brill thanks. And it is classed as a 6oz feed even though they have drunk 7oz fluid?

I still count it as a 6oz feed, not 7oz.

Yes still count as 6oz. I always did. Based on the volume of water.

To be honest if you’re minded to track what’s she’s drinking you probably don’t need to be more accurate than ‘half a 6oz bottle’. This is very much do as I say not advice but my mental heath wasn’t great and obsessively writing everything down was a symptom of that ...

Thanks all. Just confusing as he has be breastfed to now and when I express the medela bottles are US oz and the MAM bottles we feed with are UK oz so anoint looks different then add in the confusion of the amount of formula and I am bamboozled lol

As long as I am using the right number of scoops though that is my main concern

I'm going to be different and say I class it as a 7oz feed. Reason being if you used premade formula and filled bottle to 7oz, you would consider that to be 7oz. The same theory should apply when making it at home as you are not just taking into account the actual water, but the volume the water + powder produces.

I've always added 6 scoops, set it to 6, hit the button and count that as a 6oz feed!

It gets quite frothy and once it's "calmed down" a bit it will look like roughly 6oz in the bottle.
