Is it a blocked duct?

I have a sudden (or at least I’ve not noticed it until now) thickening on one breast, it’s the size of say an oblong digestive biscuit and is tender to touch. It doesn’t hurt to nurse.

My little one is 15 months today and breast feeds sporadically so if it is a blocked duct I’m not sure how I’ll get it out? The days of breast feeding for ages at a time are long gone and my breast pump is broken.... I’ve applied a hot compress, had a hot shower and been massaging downwards but will that be enough??

And does this actually sound like a blocked duct? I always thought it was painful to feed if you had a blocked duct....

Sounds like it. I frequently got this in one particular breast and side. Appreciate dc is a sporadic feeder but can you encourage to feed before nap/bed at least and position them so lower jaw is side of the lump. So for example my outer side breast used to get the recurring lump. I would use reverse cradle hold propping baby up with pillows.

It’s in an odd place- the area of breast visible if I was wearing a bikini, for instance... if that makes sense? On the top side of my breast. I will literally have to feed him upside down! 🙈 I’m just a little paranoid about it getting infected if he can’t successfully draw it out 😟
