Increase bottle size?

Hello all! The last few days I’ve increased my little one from 4oz bottles to 5oz. He has six or seven bottles a day. He’ll be nine weeks old on Tuesday. My question is, he’s draining his 5oz bottles even though he’s only been on them a few days, shall I increase to 6oz? He has reflux, which he’s on ranitidine for, will the increase in bottle size again be ok?
Thanks all! Smile

It’s not clear from your post how much he weighs. The guidelines are to give them roughly 2.5floz per pound in weight per day. So a 10lb baby should be having roughly 25floz in a day. If you use that equation, is he getting roughly the right amount or is he way over?

Is he settled after a feed or is he crying for more? Is he tall as that can affect things.

Which type of food do you use?

Smellybears · 20/03/2018 16:12

Thank you for the replies! He’d actually not been well and suffering severe diarrhea causing him to lose weight. Since his poops have got a bit better he isn’t draining his bottles now so I won’t be increasing bottle size just yet. He’s on hipp organic anti reflux milk.
Thank you both for your replies Smile

If he’s got weight issues, diarrhoea and reflux have you discussed with the GP whether it might be CMPA?

Smellybears · 21/03/2018 16:26

Jilted I’ve been battling for weeks with the doctors about cmpa but they won’t test him. I ended up in hospital with him last week (severe diarrhea and weight loss) as I called the doctors 150 times to get an appointment but couldn’t get through. Anyway, the hospital have referred him to a specialist and we have an appointment on Friday. Fingers crossed we will get a diagnosis of something!
